Along with the November rains comes Thanksgiving, Family and Fish?! Yes, this year after the turkey has been eaten and the visiting family wants to see the sites or you have restless children, head on out to Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail! The rain has made Kennedy Creek a bit turbid, but the viewing from Fiscus Creek is spectacular! The trail is only about half a mile long and is very easy walking. While it will be closed on Thanksgiving, it will be staffed by amazing volunteers for the remainder of the holiday. It is a great place to bring guests to show them what the Pacific Northwest is all about! The salmon are swimming so make it Fishgiving! See you at the Trail!
Fish in Fiscus Creek!

This weekend a rain event raised the water level in Fiscus Creek a tributary to Kennedy Creek. Chum entered the system early this week following the rain and have begun their journey up the creek. While they have not traveled far they are working hard at making their way up Fiscus as they need more rain to ease travel. There are some great viewing spots on the Trail so stop on by or bring the family for the holidays!
The Returning Chum!

The Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail is now filling with returning Chum. Today I walked the trail today with a group from The Evergreen State College and we watched aggression between two males for about 45min. Their display of biting and chasing was very intriguing. I’ve also spent two days with week with 4th grade classes from Hansen and Garfield. These budding biologists left the trail with a more in-depth knowledge of the importance of the role of our watershed in their communities and how we as humans can help and hinder the success of our salmon species.
