If you are not a sport fisher you may not know who Gary is:  Gary started G.Loomis rod manufacturing business in Woodland, Washington in 1982.  The fishing rods produced at G. Loomis are internationally recognized as top-of-the-line premier fishing rods.

In 1995, Gary was diagnosed with cancer and given less than 18 months to live.  He decided that he wanted to give-back to his community and to salmon and started to restore habitat and salmon runs on the Lewis River.  In 1995, only 32 coho were counted spawning in the river.

Gary’s cancer went into remission.  He continued to work on the Lewis River and in 2002, 16,000 fish returned to spawn.  Then, the numbers began to “mysteriously” decline.

In his dynamic presentation, learn about his efforts to restore salmon runs on the Lewis River, the 5 H’s of salmon recovery and the impact of H – harvest, on the Lewis River and all salmon rivers, and his thoughts on how to achieve salmon recovery.

Retired from his company G.Loomis, Gary now devotes all his time to salmon recovery.
